Legends of Olde
The great rivers separated into cross roads ever since the dawn of elvenkind. It was once said that the guardians of the elven people, the Anji of the ancient times, forced the great mountain below the river to rise above the surface. "This is new land live in peace good creatures." they spoke in a delightful joy that rose the very hairs of your neck, completely mesmerizing you in bliss.
It was also said, on that day, many elven tribes moved across the river on the wooden snakes built by the Anji, which gave birth to many new tribes. Such as the Otarian , Alsyian and Ellean. My father, Larian Lonto highshaman of the Shi'shan nations sacred caretakers of the Ellean people, said to be the very inhabitants who first settled on this island, met Sy'syan my mother in the wilderness during his trials, they concieved me a few months later and taught me to learn.
Curiosity Shines Bright
They did not understand the gift they given me. My culture, they act in ignorant bliss with nature, not questioning or evaluating the world around us, merely acting with it as it comes. Lately many wars have broken out and nations fighting other nations, the birth of this war is long forgotten, yet my tribes'folk fight the hordes of the elves from the eastern mountain, proclaimed to be barbarians, as they rush on our small villages, slaying our woman, children and men alike.
We have been taught to just live and cut our losses and continue on, only the strong survive. I cannot resist to ask myself, how is this strength? Killing the very blood in our veins..
The wind is calm and smooth on this fine day, nearly 3 days since i left my village. I have lost my appetite, no longer desire a drink. I merely sit on a stone, watching the clouds flow by, the birds and the mammals calmly roaming the forest beds. In silence, i have come to learn, their is great peace. The soft soothing feeling of nature washes the distraction of requirement away opening my mind to a sensation of real bliss and rectification of the past.
I realize now the true harm of violence and pain. We cannot see how it binds us to it and controls us, even if we try by our actions to remove it. "When the whistling sound of a teary eyed youth howls in the moonlight doom will fall on the world beyond. " Once coined by a great philosopher of sorts, an elder shaman. Most considered him a lunatic, however his words spoke true to me. I guess he influenced me greatly in the path i follow now…
My body is beginning to feel numb and my interior mind buzzing with a constant hum. Time seems meaningless now and action almost inconsequential. It takes mere seconds for my body shake uncontrollably, bringing me onto my knees, soaring off the rock, once underneath me. I felt the cold blades of grass ease onto my flesh as my knees impaled the soil. Suddenly I stopped moving while taking deep breaths, trying to compose myself.
I felt a soft drip of rain splatter on my shoulder slowly running down my back in random directions, followed by another within seconds. Before i could blink my eyes the surface was covered in rain, my ears echoing with the constant clatter of rain falling on grass. The sweet breeze rushed through my mind as wind rapidly flew in every direction appearing to aim straight towards me.
Wisdom's Guidance
Instantly my body seemed to rise off the ground. To my shock and amazement i was looking down at my body. Blindsighted by this, i rose my hands instinctly to cover my eyes, quickly realizing i was still in my body or what would appear to be. I stood in awe for a few moments before i started to move my limbs, continuing to levitate a few feet off the ground. It felt at that moment that gravity had no boundaries over me, taking advantage of this I let my inner thoughts go, the years of seeing birds fly through the air, wisping through clouds and diving into forests. The temptation grew intensely as reality reacted to my thoughts and inner desires. I was soon zolting high above the forest tips, the wind powerfully rushing against my body as the clouds began to ripple smoothly below me. I came to a halt above those great clouds of dreams and inspirations.
The sun was magnificent, shining in a brilliant light capturing the tips of the clouds as if by magic. Perfectly blending colors in a harmonic bliss. Then a timeless truth entered my youthful ears. "I must allow myself the peace within to accept what i cannot change. Have courage and strength to change what i can and with that i gain the wisdom and knowledge to know the difference." That thought exploded in my mind, illuminating ever vein, nerve and thought pattern of past, present and perhaps even future, if not potential future. My body began to glow in a large white hue extending far beyond my form, enlightening the clouds below me.
An echo of energy vibrated against my back as a great eagle leap out of the clouds and up above me. It's eye quickly tinkled in mine and i knew for some reason, it wanted me to follow it. With a great smile on my face I dove into the clouds once more, keeping a firm distance from the eagle yet maintaining his path setting it mentally as my own. It appeared as if i could see where he was going before he moved there. I felt in true bliss with nature, far beyond what i ever have before.
As I moved i could feel the energy of plants and other forms of nature. The very strength of the wise old bird was guiding me as i calmly followed behind. I began to mentally rush through a flurry of visions, anything from insects to nations and old ancient species, great beasts and demons of the ancient worlds to lectures on wisdom and the power given by cultures through out the history of this world. Knowledge rushed through my mind distracting me instantly as i lost control of my path and dove straight into a large nest of trees.
I held my hands up in defense, fearing the great pain of the impact. I flew straight through the trees without a scratch. I hardly could believe such a thing. Yet as disoriented as it made me i leap back into the sky in pursuit of the great eagle.
The great birds shadow hung over the trees with a bold stance, sending nearby animals to flee in a flash. It seemed the interaction the eagle had was on reality as well as this mystical realm. It instantly swooped down into a soft meadow headed by a great waterfall surrounded by a pure blue lake, clear as the sky, you could see the fish below searching and navigating their way through the water with a curious intelligence.
The eagle stood inches from the wave covered shore, waiting for me to stand beside it. As i stood looking upon the water the great eagle looked to me and i looked to it. I could see in it's eyes it was very wise and great, living for thousands of years. "Where do you bring me wise one?"
It has been said many shaman speak to the great beasts of the world. I had no clue if i had the ability, but i was curious enough to try. To my surprise it could speak my language very well. It did not move it's mouth to speak however it merely transferred it's thoughts to my own.
"I am taking you where you're asking to go. Granting you the wisdom in which you seek. You are ready young one." With that short explanation he dove underneath the lake, i could see his body slowly disappearing in the abyss below. Timid i looked at the lake in shock. Could i possibly live through that?" Within seconds i stopped questioning and dove in behind him slowly swerving around the fish below.
A large fish swimming towards me in a rush, currents of water rushing off it's fins and skin. It's large mouth expanded as it's teeth searching for my flesh. Instinctively i rose my hands up once more, yet this time a large field of inner energy grew around me, holding the ancient beasts jaw tight. It began to force it's head to either side in an intensely enraged anger, sending the energy sphere jolting back and forth.
Puzzled , i sheltered my body in my arm's, terrified, as time began to slow down around me. The need for survival rose intensely inside of me as the energy around me flew outwards, forcing the great beast's jaw away from me. Luckily it gave me enough time to swim away, once again catching up with the eagle.
The Ancient Legends
Long ago, there was a tale of a young man, born into the life of a shaman, far into the ancient years of tribes and huts. His name was Tai-Lonto, which in their native tongue meant Wolf's Tooth. All young shaman are sent far into the wilderness for 17 days to survive with no aid from another. He was given the test at a very young age, younger then any before him, which was despised by most of the elder's in the tribe. Despite this, he was given permission to begin the trials at the young age of 20, most elves lived long into their four-hundreds in those days…
The year is twenty twelve, the length of time since the respected birth of the Altarian Domain. Home to a ferocious human civilization. Slavery is common place, allowing for the great building and mass production of weaponry and employment of infantry. Sending the weak and cowardice into war.
It was once spoken by a great elder, that times never change, only evolve from the basic's of need and desire. Little who heard such words understood the great impact of what was meant. Until a young child, a peasant boy, from Heiram Village , far to the east of the native land of Altarian, listened to the wise shaman speak.
As a child the wisdom meant nothing, seeming merely as ramblings of an old drunk. Once this child grew to a teenager he was summoned to became a great knight of the Altarian Nation, serving under the High Lord, Ariam Nailen, 24th king.
The Nailen family tree is known for it's cruelty and misjudgment. They feed on war and monetary power. Sending this young peasant into extreme conflicts and quest's in search of death and destruction. His name, was Allec Tri'ul, 16th son of the tri'ul bloodline.
With unusually powerful strength and speed Allec was granted great leadership, becoming the youngest captain of the Dark Knights. Known also as the Royal Knights of Alterian. They were widely accepted for their prowess in battle and ruthless rage
Twenty thirty, approximately sixteen thousand and five hundred years, after the ancient age, the dawning of civilization…
"Sir, the enemy is drawing near, orders?" The lieutenant spoke briskly, giving an quick bow in respect to his superior. He was dressed in a golden chest plate and shoulder guards. A gray cape extended down his back, and a vase shaped helmet tucked into his side, wrapped around his left arm.
The captain paused, looking towards the ground in disgust. "Send the troops immediately." The chilling voice of the commander pierced the lieutenants ears alerting him to move without hesitation.
"Attack!" H'rath Em, lieutenant, Grand Knight, spoke in fury as the troops gripped their weapons rushing through the woods straight into the incoming army. The ranks of each side where large, each ranging into the thousands, male and female alike, fighters, and wizards, druids and warlocks, slaves and masters, clerics and necromancers.
With the wizard's there came many elementals and gods, the necromancer's summoning the undead and ancient tortured souls. Within a milsecond of contact, blood began to spill rapidly, blades rushing through flesh, arrows bursting straight through limbs, and spells bursting, burning, dementing and obliterating entire beings.
Within the tenth minute of combat, allec rose from his meditation and dashed straight forward, faster then a panther pouncing at it's pray. Leaping high into the air his blade aimed towards the sun, he began to freefall into the crowd of warriors.
With a thunderous sweep he decapitated a series of soldiers in his immediate area. Perfectly, he landed on one knee examining his dropping opponent's, head's fell first, followed by the body, slowly losing it's connectivity. A smirk grew under his face, covered by his long black hair. Attached to his chest was a light plate of armor, perfectly designed to fit his chest and allow flexible movement. Underneath was a long draping robe, the sleeves reaching to the edge of his bicep. Below that he wore a light white garment, with tightly wrapped forearm guard, plated in the finest metal, known as Allierium. coloured in a silver-ish gold, and embedded with a red encrusted jewel glimmering in the sunlight. With a calm grace the deadly warrior stood, his eyes pitch black completely engulfing his pupils in dark energy, glowing in a gray midst, which rose up his skull.
The group of enemies stood in awe for a moment before rushing towards the dark knight in a blur of rage and desperation. A blade waved by him guided by a warrior dressed in wooden armor, it was a young orc, no more then 16 years of age. It took two swift movements to remove this enemy. One to push his blade away and another to slash at his neck, which forced his body to perpell downwards sliding briskly off the blade's sharp edge. A quick scream echoed from the youth's mouth, pierced by fear and disbelief.
No more then a second later two large Minotaur's came rushing towards him, great axe's in hand, forcing their gigantic weight and strength onto Allec's blade. With both hand's the large human, pushed his blade horizontally towards the oncoming attack's engaging in a deadly contest of strength and stamina. As this was happening an adult imp came jolting out of a mass of soldier's jabbing it's short sword deep into the side of the dark knight, forcing him down onto his knee's. Still with great mental strength and will to survive and become victorious his blade held the Minotaur's back, as the imp pulled his blade out in anticipation of another strike. With a bold use of lower body strength the dark knight pushed upward, sending the Minotaur's jolting back a few steps. Within the same swing of the blade, he turned to his left side, aiming a deadly diagonal slash towards the unexpecting imp, slicing his right shoulder clean off. The blade dropped out of his left hand as he gripped his blooded upper side.
Momentarily Allec left the now helpless imp to his misaree, not allowing the Minotaur's more then a second to rush towards him. He move at the perfect second defending himself from an incoming impaling strike from the larger minotaur on the left. His hair was gray, and attire made from a white wolf's fur, signifying his rank as an elder warrior, fierce and deadly. His axe was carved in a rare metal, found only in the deepest of Mount Hariti. Yartairan, a reddish cystallike metallic ore, forged into a great double bladed axe, nearly the same size of the minotaur, who stood eight feet from the ground.
In the midst of the surrounding war, a young prospering warrior, a nobal student of Allec's came rushing towards them with his twin blades spinning in his palm's. He came straight towards the open minotaur swinging his blades in a "x" shape aiming straight towards the chest of the seven foot six inched minotaur. Who's black hair sprouted out of top of his head, extending like waves down his neck. A great beard hung on his chin decorated with a single rectangular shaped cloth, tightly condensing the hair inward. He wore a wooden chest plate and deer skinned clothes.
Allec's prized student, Darian Areth, nicknamed KnightsWind, cut the axe in half, forcing the Minotaur's blade to skim off the knight's shoulder before falling on the ground behind him. Unprotected the blades rushed out straight through the enemies chest, slashing his heart into two uneven pieces. To end the strike the knight bowed calmly falling to one knee as his blades pointed out behind him, his head tipping forward.
Within that timespan Allec had pushed the elder minotaur away performing to quick strikes to the stomach and leg's of the minotaur, separating flesh with the ease of momentum. The three pieces of the elder fell forcing a near by minotaur to burst out in a rage. By random change it was the elder's son, who dashed towards Allec the Bold in a blind fiery.
The weary imp who knelt a few feet from allec was weeping in pain. Blood surrounded his shivering body as Darian elegantly stepped towards him unleashing a quick deadly strike without interrupting his movement towards a nearby demon, Yetali Onleen, a deadly warriormage, standing proud in full plated black arm, decorated by the demon horns of his dead ancestor's. A long black cape hung on his back.
The demon species, commonly found in the southern area's of the planet are given red skin and large horn's also born with long tail's. They are large in build and weigh large amounts compared to medium sized species, such as humans and elves. Dangerous and demonic they stand roughly eight feet in height and commonly wield large bladed weapons. Which length's range from six to nine feet, with common black or gray metal's.
This particular Demon, Yetail, is a great leader of many nation's of demon's, guiding them through the great war's of apocalyptic doom. The prophetic tale of this great war first uttered in the ancient day's of The Great Shaman, Wolf's Tooth. Found of the first known civilization.
